What is the difference between creative problem solving and creative decision making?

Problem solving is the process of taking corrective action to meet objectives. Decision making is the process of selecting a course of action that will solve a problem.

What is creative decision making?

Creativity allows the decision maker to more fully appraise and understand the problem. Creativity is the ability to link or combine ideas in novel ways, and their unique alternatives have to be considered useful to others. Creativity is also known as divergent or lateral thinking.

How do you become a creative problem solver?

1) The first step is self-awareness.
2) Detach yourself from the problem.
3) Use a framework or a method to guide your thinking.
3) Show empathy.
4) Promote diversity of point of views.
5) Focus on the right input and stimuli.
6) Expand your own marketing knowledge and experience.

Here are seven-steps for an effective problem-solving process:

1) Identify the issues. Be clear about what the problem is.
2) Understand everyone's interests.
3) List the possible solutions (options).
4) Evaluate the options.
5) Select an option or options.
5) Document the agreement(s).
7) Agree on contingencies, monitoring, and evaluation.
